About Cumbrian Artist – David Pooley

Based in Cumbria, I create a wide range of work across various media, including pencil, charcoal, pen & ink, pastel, and acrylics. Drawing has been a passion of mine since childhood, and I feel fortunate to turn that love into a full-time career.

My creative path began when I joined a local printing firm at 16, training as a graphic designer. Though I’ve enjoyed a fulfilling design career, my true calling has always been art, and this now takes centre stage in my life.

In addition to my original artwork, I’ve recently launched Herdwick Publishing, a venture dedicated to offering Trade customers a fresh range of greeting cards. On the retail side, I also run Summat to Laugh About – a space for those looking for something more fun and light-hearted. This website features greeting cards, canvasses, and prints with a distinctive Cumbrian twist, offering a playful alternative to my fine art.
